Bring Your Own Venue (BYOV)

Bring Your Own Venue (BYOV) is an option for performers who want to make their own venue arrangements and have a site specific show. BYOV performers keep 100% of their box office receipts (instead of 50% at Fringe venues) and pay all venue-related costs directly to the venue. BYOV performers are required to pay a $200 entry fee to be included in all Fringe related press and program. This fee is per production (that means that if more than one production wants to share a venue, both productions need to pay the fee). No more than two productions are permitted per BYOV.

If you are not selected for a Fringe venue slot during the regular submission process, consider the BYOV option. We will credit your $25 application fee towards the $200 BYOV fee (so you just pay $175). Make your arrangements, complete the BYOV form and submit it by September 1. BYOV performances are not adjudicated and are generally accepted if the applications are complete. BYOV productions must have at least one performance during the days of the festival. We do reserve the right to refuse BYOV shows for any reason; in that case your BYOV fee will be refunded.

Be creative when you think of BYOV options: swimming pools, abandoned lots, bridges, corner bars, living rooms and front porches are all great places for theater. We highly recommend lining up a location near the other Fringe venues. If you would like venue suggestions, let us know. For more information about the BYOV option, email kristen@nofringe.org.

The Fringe takes no responsibility for BYOV venues. All arrangements -- technical, financial, logistical, legal etc. -- must be made between you and the venue owner.

This application deadline is September 1, 2009.

The 2009 BYOV application is now available to download!

The application and supporting materials will be accepted by US mail, courier (FedEx, UPS, etc.) or hand delivery to the Fringe office. The application, supporting materials and $200 non-refundable fee must hand-delivered or postmarked by September 1, 2009 for the 2009 Fringe Festival.
