Frequently Asked Questions

When is the New Orleans Fringe?

The Festival dates are November 11-15, 2009. Other important dates:

Where will the Fringe Fest be held?

Fringe Fest performances will be at venues throughout New Orleans, primarily in the the Bywater and Marigny neighborhoods. Venues run by Fringe include theaters, art galleries, warehouse performance spaces and a church.

But don't let us limit you. We also welcome you to do theater anywhere you can -- puppet show on your porch or a burlesque show in your corner bar -- by signing up with the Bring Your Own Venue option. And we hope that other visual artists and musicians will plan events in the area during these dates to amp the buzz up to a roar.

How can I participate as a performer?

Complete a submission form and get it to us by July 1, 2010. We'll tell you if we have a slot for you by August 15. Or you can make your own venue arrangements with the Bring Your Own Venue option. Just make sure that you fill out the Bring Your Own Venue form to tell us what you are doing by September 1 so that you can be included in the publicity and schedule.

How were performers selected?

There were over 30 total performance slots available. The first 27 slots were selected by jury. The remaining slots were selected by lottery. Unfortunately that means that there might not be slots for everybody who applies. But, if you can find a place to perform, we'll include you in all of the promotion and schedule anyway (and apply your application fee to the Bring Your Own Venue fee).

How can I get involved as a volunteer?

We need volunteers to help us run venues, sell tickets, assist performers and host out-of-towners! Please contact Ben at ben@nofringe.org for more information.

I have a cool venue: Can it be in the Fringe?

Absolutely! If you have a coffee shop, yoga studio, art gallery, bar or any other interesting space and want to host shows, let us know. There are two types of venues in the Festival: those run by Fringe (we do the work) those that are Bring Your Own Venue (you make arrangements directly with performers and we include you in publicity). Contact Kristen at kristen@nofringe.org to discuss both options.
